Future Directions CIC have made a commitment to follow the Driving Up Quality Code. This Code is part of what we have promised to do under the Winterbourne View Concordat and action plan.

The Driving Up Quality Code:

Future Directions CIC worked with a group of people supported and staff to review the initial driving up quality self-assessment in March 2017.  Using the information gathered the self-assessment report has been updated and new action plan has been developed.  We will continue to review and monitor progress on actions as we did following our first self-assessment.  Achievements from our first Driving up Quality Action plan were as follows:

  1. More people we support involved in recruitment of their own staff.  People we support can now be involved in recruiting staff in a variety of ways, from developing adverts and person specifications, being part of an interview panel or a meet and greet following a managers interview.
  2. Getting It Right Team developed an audit tool to assess the service and support provided to people we support.  They visit, ask questions and observe, writing a report of findings and recommendations.  These are then fed back to teams and people supported.  They have recently introduced a follow up visit to review recommendations implemented and changes made.
  3. We have continued to work with groups of people supported and staff to monitor and develop communication and engagement at all levels.  We have introduced cake and coffee sessions in each area we provide services which supports staff and people supported with the opportunity to meet with senior managers to discuss issues or areas of good practice.  We have open invites for people supported and staff to have lunch with the board four times a year, which again gives people supported and staff to meet the board and discuss any issues or areas of good practice.  It also supports the board in ensuring operations are delivering services effectively.  We also have specific engagement sessions with people supported and staff to continually monitor quality and develop services.

We are proud to announce that we are winners of the 'Openness and Transparency' Award at the Driving Up Quality Awards 2016.
